Contemporary White Barn Painting

This is a mixed media (acrylic, oil stick, graphite and plaster) painting on a cradled wood panel.  I drove by this old white barn in Litchfield County and had to stop to sketch and photograph it.  I bring my sketches back to my studio and work from them to create a finished piece. The painting has a lot of surface texture and expressive brush strokes.

  We source antique barn wood to make our original barn wood frames (this wood is over 100 years old!).  Please note that the barn wood we find for our frames has a lot of character and personality, it is not new wood and as such has imperfections, bumps, uneven edges and old nail holes.  

The painting with frame is about 25"x25" and is wired on the back and ready to hang.   A protective varnish has been added to give the painting a slight gloss and to protect the surface.  Signed on the back.
